Sung won Kim is currently an Associate Professor of Comparative Education at Yonsei University. She has previously held faculty position at the University of Oxford, where she also obtained a B.A. Hons and M.A. in Chinese Studies. She has studied and lived in France, United Kingdom, United States, China, South Korea, and has received a Master’s in International Education Policy and Doctorate in Human Development and Education from Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Her research and teaching interests include International and Comparative education, International education policy, China’s economic reforms and education, cultural perspectives on parenting and child socialization, gender inequality, parental involvement and shadow education, and mixed methods research.

She has published in a range of scholarly journals such as Review of Educational Research, Comparative Education, Comparative Education Review, International Journal of Educational Development, The China Quarterly, The China Journal, Ethos, Gender and Education, Educational Review, Journal of Educational Psychology, among others.
